As of March 31, 2022, there were around 42.62 thousand welfare taxis with improved accessibility available in Japan, an increase from roughly 41.5 thousand in the previous year. The government announced its aim to have around 90 thousand taxis with improved accessibility by the end of fiscal 2025.
